Summary
NRS Dounreay are looking for an Operator to join them on an ongoing contract basis, based at the Dounreay Site in Thurso.
Join the Dounreay team and play a vital role in the safe decommissioning of one of the UKs most significant nuclear sites. This hands-on position involves supporting operational, maintenance and decommissioning activities, ensuring plant systems, equipment and work areas are maintained to the highest safety and compliance standards. Working within a highly regulated environment, you will contribute to the safe handling of hazardous materials, operational monitoring and continuous site improvement while developing valuable technical skills as part of an experienced team.

What will you be doing
As an Operator youll support a range of operational and maintenance activities that are essential to the safe
decommissioning of the Dounreay site. From carrying out routine plant inspections and maintenance to supporting repairs, monitoring operations and assisting with decommissioning projects, youll play a vital role in keeping site activities running safely and effectively.
Key responsibilities include:
Carrying out operational maintenance in line with planned maintenance schedules.
Performing routine plant, fire and emergency checks, identifying faults and supporting resolutions.
Supporting decommissioning and operational activities, including working within radiologically controlled environments.
Handling, packaging and transferring radioactive and hazardous materials safely and compliantly.

Were looking for a safety-conscious and reliable individual who enjoys working in a hands-on operational role. Youll be a team player with strong attention to detail and a commitment to working within a highly regulated environment.
The ideal candidate will bring a proactive approach and a willingness to learn, with experience in industrial, engineering, manufacturing, energy, defence or other safety-critical environments being advantageous.
• Experience supporting operational, maintenance or site-based activities.
• A strong commitment to health, safety and regulatory compliance.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow established procedures.
• Flexibility to undertake shift working and operate specialist equipment following training.
• Working at height
• Hold a clean UK drivers licence and be willing to drive industrial vehicles following training.
• Post specific physical capability analysis assessment
