Summary

Are you a qualified pharmacist with a passion for mental health pharmacy, or keen to specialise in this rewarding field? Whether you are already working in hospital or mental health settings, or currently in community pharmacy and looking for a new direction to develop your clinical skills, we offer a supportive and dynamic environment to help you grow and thrive. If any of these apply, this role could be the perfect opportunity for you.

We are committed to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of both our staff and the service users across the localities we serve. We would love for you to join our compassionate and nurturing Medicines Management Team.

Due to promotion of the current postholder, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our highly supportive inpatient team as a Clinical Mental Health Pharmacist.

The post is based at Chorley District Hospital, covering a range of mental health wards, including a psychiatric intensive care unit and acute adult mental health wards.

The role offers an ideal opportunity for a pharmacist who may wish to enhance their current knowledge base within the mental health field or who is already working at this level. We are a supportive Medicines Management Team and can offer many opportunities for pharmacists to build on their current expertise. We encourage all team members to identify, develop, and feel empowered to improve their skills.

Hospital and/or mental health experience is desirable but not essential, as we offer an award‑winning in‑house training programme designed to support the successful candidate in developing the necessary skills and confidence for the role.

There may also be opportunities to access further development, including the Aston University distance‑learning Postgraduate Certificate in Psychiatric Therapeutics (accredited by the College of Mental Health Pharmacy).

The post will provide opportunities for the following:

• Pharmaceutical care planning and clinical review of prescriptions

• Involvement in multidisciplinary ward rounds

• Provision of medicines information to service users and staff

• Opportunity to experience pharmacy practice across inpatient services and community teams

• Supporting the development of robust medicines management processes

• Developing trainee pharmacy staff

• Actively working to deliver the Trust medicines optimisation strategy

• Ensuring compliance with GPhC standards for dispensing

• Clinical audit

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust has fully implemented electronic prescribing and medicines administration systems across all inpatient settings.

Due to the location of various units, an ability and willingness to travel around Trust locations is required. There is no requirement to work bank holidays or weekends.
