Summary

• Coordinate the day-to-day activities within the yard to ensure the safe, efficient and effective movement of vehicles, goods, equipment and materials.

• Coordinate vehicle arrivals, departures, deliveries and collections, working closely with Goods In, Goods Out, warehouse and logistics teams to maintain the smooth flow of goods in and out of site.

• Act as the key point of contact for visiting drivers and transport providers, ensuring they are aware of relevant site procedures and directing them appropriately whilst on site.

• Coordinate loading and unloading priorities and the use of available yard space to minimise congestion, maintain safe access routes and support efficient vehicle turnaround.

• Manage and coordinate with waste contractors to ensure timely waste collections and correct segregation in accordance with site procedures.

• Monitor changing operational requirements throughout the day and adjust yard priorities accordingly, communicating any delays, conflicts or issues to the relevant teams and management.

• Liaise with drivers, transport providers, warehouse colleagues and internal departments to resolve issues relating to deliveries, collections, loading activities and associated documentation.

• Communicate changes to delivery and collection schedules promptly to relevant colleagues, drivers and managers.

• Ensure all relevant delivery, collection and transport documentation is completed accurately and any discrepancies are identified, investigated or escalated promptly.

• Maintain accurate records and systems relating to yard stock, deliveries, collections and material movements.

• Work with the wider warehouse team to ensure departmental KPIs and customer requirements are achieved.

• Maintain the yard in a clean, safe and organised condition and ensure available space is utilised effectively.

• Load and unload delivery vehicles safely, either manually or using FLT/pallet equipment where trained and authorised.

• Move goods, equipment and materials safely between the yard, warehouse, Goods In and Goods Out areas.

• Ensure materials and stock held within the yard are clearly identified, safely located, appropriately protected and accurately recorded.

• Check incoming and outgoing goods for damage, missing items, discrepancies or incorrect documentation and take appropriate action.

• Carry out regular yard checks to identify hazards, housekeeping issues, damage, stock discrepancies or unsafe conditions.

• Support safe traffic management within the yard, maintaining awareness of pedestrians, visiting drivers, vehicles and FLT movements.

• Support the segregation, disposal or return of damaged, waste or redundant materials in line with Company procedures.

• Operate Counterbalance FLT, Bendi FLT and pallet trucks as required, where appropriately trained and authorised.

• Provide hands-on support across wider warehouse operations where required to meet business and customer needs, including Goods In, Goods Out, picking, checking, stock movements, put-away, replenishment, loading/unloading and associated system and documentation requirements.

• Receive goods into the warehouse in line with customer requirements and Company procedures, ensuring stock is accurately booked in and located appropriately.

• Support the accurate picking, checking, preparation, labelling and dispatch of goods in line with customer requirements.

• Maintain accurate stock and system records and report or investigate discrepancies as appropriate.

• Liaise with logistics partners and internal teams regarding delivery and collection requirements and booking slots.

• Support colleagues and other operational areas during busy periods, absence or where required to meet the varying needs of the business.

• Take a proactive approach to Health & Safety within the yard and warehouse, ensuring work is undertaken in line with relevant risk assessments, Safe Systems of Work and Company procedures.

• Identify and immediately report hazards, defects, spillages, equipment damage, unsafe conditions, accidents and near misses through the appropriate Company processes.

• Ensure visiting drivers, contractors and other visitors under your control are made aware of relevant site hazards, emergency procedures and safety requirements.

• Maintain good housekeeping standards across the yard and warehouse and take appropriate action to rectify issues where possible.

• Support internal and 6S audits and proactively identify opportunities to improve safety, stock integrity, space utilisation and operational efficiency.

• Ensure all activities comply with Company Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental policies and procedures.

• Proactively identify and suggest improvements to yard and warehouse processes, considering the impact on other departments and the wider business.

• Work in line with departmental KPIs and support the achievement of operational and customer service objectives.

Other Duties

• Act as an ambassador, promoting the Company's values, culture and internal and external customer experience.

• Undertake any other duties commensurate with the level of the role as required to meet the varying demands of the business.
