Summary

The Forensic Low Secure & Learning Disability Forensic Inpatient service is offering an opportunity for a Band 6 Team Leader (RNLD or RMN) at the Brookfield Centre.

The Brookfield Centre is a 13 bedded locked rehabilitation and recovery inpatient service for male/transgender female forensic patients aged 18 and over who are detained under the Mental Health Act and continue to require detention under the Mental Health Act 1983/2007 because of their complex needs arising from intellectual disability and/or autism and/or mental health issues. The focus of this stepdown service is on maximising positive outcomes, recovery, and reintegration into the community.

The post holder will support the Ward Managers and Matron in the delivery of clinical leadership, practice and achievement of quality priorities within inpatient learning disability and autism services. This is a clinically based role where daily visible leadership is expected. The post holder will ensure that the well-being of patients, staff and visitors is paramount to the ward ethos. The post holder will support the strategic objectives of the Trust through maintaining adherence of staff and of self to all Trust polices and procedures.

The post holder must hold a full, valid, UK driving licence to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

• The post holder will work collaboratively with private, independent and charitable providers, other disciplines, and the patient (and their family or carers when appropriate) to formulate and agree on holistic person-centred care that addresses the specific needs of this patient group.

• They will take a lead role in ensuring a cohesive multi-disciplinary approach is adopted in meeting the health and social care needs of adults with a learning disability and autism who are accessing specialist mental health services.

• The post holder will also have a pivotal role in the education and development of skills and awareness of the mental health, psychological and social needs of adults with a learning disability and autism including practical support to a range of professionals/agencies to ensure reasonable adjustments are taken to effectively meet needs for a designated locality.

• To advocate for patients with a diagnosis of learning disability and autism, and demonstrate a high level of professional curiosity.

• To promote a culture of openness, transparency and responsiveness.

Provide a strong clinical presence, sound leadership, and mental health, learning disability and autism clinical expertise and practices with a significant contribution to direct care by participating in reviews such as CPA, and CTRs to facilitate timely discharge.

• To support the design and implementation of clinical care pathways and the menu of interventions.

What is High Cost Area Allowance?

The High-Cost Area (HCA) allowance, also referred to as London Weighting is a payment made to employees who work in London and the surrounding areas. 

As this post is based in Dartford, Gravesham or Swanley, the successful applicant will receive an additional payment each month.

5% of basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £1,346 per year and a maximum payment of £2,270 per year (the agreed annual amount will be divided into 12 equal amounts and paid monthly) (2026/27 figures)
