Senior Quantity Surveyor
Summary
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our client’s South West team, supporting a flagship highways project in Bristol. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong commercial experience in civil engineering or highways who is looking to lead commercial operations and influence the success of major infrastructure works.
Salary
Around £65k per year.
Location and Working Pattern
Bristol
Full-time, Monday–Friday (40 hours).
Hybrid option: typically 1 day per week working from home, with flexibility based on project requirements.

Responsibilities
- Lead all commercial aspects of highways projects, protecting contractual and financial interests.
- Oversee procurement, including subcontract tendering, evaluation, and appointment.
- Manage cost reporting, valuations, invoices, forecasts, and cash-flow.
- Monitor project performance, analyse risks and opportunities, and implement efficiency measures.
- Administer NEC contracts, including variations, compensation events, and final accounts.
- Control change processes and ensure commercial compliance at every stage.
- Engage proactively with stakeholders, clients, and supply chain partners.
- Mentor and guide junior commercial team members.
Must-have Requirements
- Significant Quantity Surveying experience in civil engineering or highways projects.
- In-depth knowledge of NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts, including change control.
- Strong subcontract procurement, negotiation, and cost management skills.
- Proven ability to deliver accurate commercial reporting and forecasting.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to lead and influence within a collaborative team environment.
Nice-to-have Skills
- Relevant degree.
- Experience working on highway improvement or road upgrade schemes.
