Job Description
We are looking for a friendly, reliable and confident female Self-Employed Personal Assistant to support and engage with a 21-year-old young woman who lives at home with her mum and sister. This young lady lives with chronic health conditions that limit her ability to engage in physical activities, and she is mainly bed-bound. The aim is for you to get to know this young lady and develop a trusting working relationship so that you can provide safe and consistent support.
The role is designed to provide mum with a short break from her extensive caring responsibilities by providing companionship to this young woman, mainly in the home, whilst also undertaking some light cleaning and household tasks to further assist mum. Mum would also appreciate some help with organising and filing letters and correspondence.
About the Role
The successful candidate will spend time with the young person, either conversing with her or supporting her with activities she enjoys, whilst being a safe and reassuring presence.
There may be times when you support this young lady outside the home, so you will need to be able to assist her with using her manual wheelchair for short local outings.
You will not necessarily be required to undertake personal care duties; however, a willingness and ability to provide support in this area would be beneficial.
The timings for this support can be flexible and may include evenings and weekends by arrangement, if convenient.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
Caring, patient and supportive
Reliable and trustworthy
Confident in supporting a young person with extensive health issues
Able to be proactive, encourage participation in gentle activities, and engage with her subjects of interest
A positive individual with a great sense of humour
Flexible with working hours
If this sounds like a role you can help us with, we would really like to hear from you.
Enhanced DBS and references required.
