Vision Redbridge Culture and Leisure is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and customer-focused Recreation Assistant/Lifeguard to join our friendly team at Mayfield Leisure Centre.
Mayfield Leisure Centre is one of Redbridge’s newest leisure facilities, providing a modern, welcoming and fully accessible environment for both customers and staff. With state-of-the-art facilities and a six-lane swimming pool, the centre offers a varied programme including adult-only swimming, family sessions, swimming lessons and women-only sessions.
Mayfield is a busy and vibrant centre where no two days are the same. You’ll be part of a supportive team working together to create a safe, enjoyable and welcoming experience for the local community. The role offers plenty of variety, giving you the opportunity to develop your experience across lifeguarding, customer service and leisure centre operations.

Essential qualification
A current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is essential for this role.
Please ensure you provide proof of your NPLQ qualification with your application. Applications without evidence of a valid NPLQ will not be considered.
Key responsibilities
Provide effective pool supervision and ensure the safety and wellbeing of customers.
Set up and take down equipment for activities and sessions.
Support the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of the centre on a shift rota basis.
Provide friendly and helpful customer service, including assistance with first aid, lost property, equipment and general enquiries.
Help promote the centre’s services and activities.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the facility.
Follow all Health and Safety procedures, including emergency procedures, accident reporting and reporting any defects.
