Summary

We are currently looking for enthusiastic, supportive and committed individuals to join a specialist educational setting in Derby, supporting deaf and hearing-impaired children and young people.

We are looking for both Teaching Assistants with BSL knowledge and Communication Support Workers with BSL qualifications.

Teaching Assistants - BSL Knowledge Required

You do not need previous experience working in a school or educational setting to apply. We are particularly interested in people who can demonstrate transferable skills and experience, such as working with children or young people, supporting individuals with additional needs, communication skills, care, mentoring, youth work, community work or other people-focused roles.

BSL knowledge is essential, although this does not necessarily need to be formally qualified. Even a basic level of BSL knowledge is welcomed, and BSL Level 1 or above is ideal.

If you have learned BSL informally, have developed your skills through personal experience, or are confident communicating in BSL but do not hold a formal qualification, we would still encourage you to apply.

Communication Support Workers - BSL Level 2+

We are also looking for Communication Support Workers to support communication and access to learning.

For these roles, a minimum Level 2 qualification in BSL is required.

If you hold a higher level BSL qualification and/or have relevant experience providing communication support, we would be particularly interested in hearing from you.

Previous school experience is not essential for Teaching Assistant roles. We recognise that valuable experience can come from many different settings, and we are keen to hear from applicants who can demonstrate the right skills, attitude and commitment.
