Summary

This is a pivotal senior leadership role at the heart of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, with responsibility for two of our hospitals and for developing our partnerships across the communities we serve.

As Hospital Director and Director of System Partnerships, you will provide senior operational leadership for St Mary’s Hospital and the Western Eye Hospital, ensuring the safe, effective and high-quality delivery of services every day. You will lead some of the capital’s busiest and most complex services, working alongside clinical and operational leaders to deliver excellent care, improve performance and create the conditions in which our people can do their best work.

But this role is about much more than running hospitals.

You will lead our operational relationships and partnerships across Westminster and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, working with local authorities, primary and community care, the voluntary sector and other partners to develop more integrated models of care and strengthen the connection between our hospitals and the communities they serve.

This is an opportunity to take on one of the most significant operational leadership roles within Imperial: leading major hospitals, influencing care across place and system, shaping substantial change and improvement, and working directly with the Chief Operating Officer and wider executive team to deliver our ambitions for patients, staff and communities.

• The Hospital Director and Director of System Partnerships provides managerial leadership to the hospital sites, motivating and supporting staff to deliver the objectives of the Trust and hospital site to ensure the best possible patient experience and care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year.

• The Hospital Director and Director of System Partnerships will act as the Trust’s senior representative within the local health and care system for the communities served by the hospital. The postholder will build trusted relationships across organisational boundaries to improve the health and wellbeing of the local population, strengthen integration between services and ensure that the hospital plays a leading role as an anchor institution within its local community.

• The role requires significant influence without direct authority, bringing together leaders from across organisations to develop shared solutions to complex operational and strategic challenges.

• The Hospital Director and Director of System Partnerships works with the Divisional and Directorate management teams, and the Executive Team, to support the day to day empowerment local teams to resolve issues at site level by cross divisional working and pulling together all site based support services. This includes site based bed management and admissions.
