Summary
Registered Forensic Psychologist
This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Forensic Psychologist to work at HMP Millsike, a brand-new Category C Resettlement Prison in York. We are looking for a motivated, and compassionate Registered Forensic Psychologist with a passion for working in custodial settings. The successful applicant will join a small, friendly and supportive team who are enthusiastic about developing psychologically and trauma informed thinking across the prison. The role will also support the wider vision for HMP Millsike: establishing a positive, rehabilitative and restorative culture, ensuring that the direction of travel in relation to Reducing Reoffending aligns with best practice and is evidence based in relation to behaviour change, behaviour management and appropriate interventions relevant to population demographics. This post may suit individuals who are newly qualified.
We would also consider applications from individuals who are within 6 months of qualifying and registering with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist.
You will work directly with prisoners, staff and various stakeholders and will be provided with clinical supervision from either the Senior or Principal Psychologist. You will be responsible for the following:
-To support the development of psychological services with HMP Millsike, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, company policies and procedures and HMPPS standards, policies and procedures where applicable.
-To undertake evidence based and high quality risk and psychological assessments including HCR-20, RSVP, SARA, SAM, WAIS, when directed by various stakeholders.
-Preparing Psychological Risk Assessment reports in line with parole board directions and attending oral hearings an expert witness.
-Delivery of psychological interventions as and when required and in line with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) standards.
-To provide consultation and supervision to the Treatment Manager and the wider Interventions Facilitation team for our accredited offending behaviour programme, Building Choices.
-To provide consultancy to staff within our Safer Custody, Violence reduction, Reducing Reoffending and Offender Management Unit functions.
-Develop and deliver training for staff as and when required to ensure the maintenance of a trauma-informed, restorative and rehabilitative culture with the in prison.
-Contribute to the development of research and best practice in reducing re-offending and staff well-being.
This is a non-operational role with no line management or direct supervision of Forensic Psychologists in Training required, although some supervision of other professionals may be needed such as the Treatment Manager and facilitators for accredited offending behaviour programmes, Prison Offender Managers, Keyworkers.
Psychology Services at HMP Millsike are also dedicated to supporting continuous professionals development and providing quality supervision for Psychological professionals thus supporting your career and development as a HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist.
Essential Experience and Qualifications.
-Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council.
-Experience of completing risk and psychological assessments such as HCR-20, RSVP, SARA and WAIS and /or other cognitive and personality assessments.
-Experience of completing psychological risk assessment reports in a formal setting such as for the parole board.
-Experience of acting as an expert witness at parole hearings.
-Experience of delivering group or individual interventions using psychological models.
-Have good knowledge of psychological theories and models related to sexual and violent offending including intimate partner violence.
-Experience of providing consultancy to a variety of stakeholders
-Experiencing of conducting research
