Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Salesforce Application Engineer to join Barnardo's Digital, Data & Technology (DDaT) team.

In this pivotal role, you'll play a critical part in shaping and developing one of the charity's most important technology platforms, helping us deliver life-changing services to children, young people and families across the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Salesforce professional to lead the development, integration, governance and continuous improvement of our Salesforce ecosystem. Combining deep technical expertise with strategic thinking, you'll drive innovation, automation and digital transformation across the organisation.

This is a full-time fixed term role until 30th September 2027 - hybrid position, with travel to our London office required approximately once per quarter.

Some of the key responsibilities

Lead the design, development and optimisation of Barnardo's Salesforce platform.

Define and evolve the Salesforce roadmap in line with organisational priorities.

Design and govern integrations between Salesforce and internal/external systems.

Drive automation initiatives that improve efficiency and user experience across the charity.

Support major transformation and adoption programmes, ensuring colleagues maximise the value of Salesforce solutions.

Own platform performance, resilience, security and scalability.

Develop and govern Apex solutions, classes, triggers and SOQL queries.

Manage Salesforce administration, user access, security and role hierarchies.

Work closely with stakeholders across Fundraising, Finance, Retail, Business Development and wider DDaT teams.

Skills and experience needed for this role:

We're looking for a highly skilled Salesforce professional with a passion for using technology to deliver positive social impact.

Significant experience supporting and developing Salesforce enterprise applications.

Salesforce certifications and/or substantial professional experience in Salesforce development and administration.

Strong knowledge of:

Salesforce Sales Cloud

Salesforce Service Cloud

Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP)

Nonprofit Cloud

Data 360

Experience developing Apex classes and triggers.

Strong understanding of SOQL and performance optimisation.

Experience designing and managing integrations using APIs and third-party platforms.

Knowledge of Salesforce security, governance, profile management and role hierarchies.

Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
