Summary

We are recruiting on behalf of a reputable, family-run motor retail group in Gloucester for the position of Workshop Controller. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to lead a busy Service Department within a well-established franchise-approved dealership. - Working hours: 8:00am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday, with 1 in 4 Saturdays from 8:30am to 12:30pm

Duties:

- Oversee and lead the workshop team of approximately seven technicians

- Liaise with the Service Manager to optimise workshop efficiency and processes

- Ensure customer requirements are fully understood and communicated effectively

- Monitor individual and workshop productivity to meet key performance indicators

- Manage the allocation and distribution of work based on skill levels

- Identify training and development needs within the team as the Workshop Controller

- Coordinate between workshop and service reception to track vehicle progress

- Maintain workshop standards in line with health and safety regulations and brand requirements

- Uphold customer satisfaction standards and ensure service quality and reliability

Requirements:

- Proven experience managing an automotive workshop or similar leadership role, ideally within a franchise dealership

- Alternatively, experienced senior Vehicle Technicians or Service Advisers with strong technical knowledge and leadership aspirations

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as the Workshop Controller

- Strong team-oriented approach with results-driven mindset

- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities

- Attention to quality and reliability standards

- IT literacy

- Valid UK driving licence with minimal points
