Summary

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Construction Director / Operations Director to oversee all operational activity for a well-established contractor delivering construction projects typically ranging in value from £1m to £5m. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for driving operational performance, managing project delivery teams and ensuring schemes are delivered safely, profitably, on programme and to the highest quality standards.The successful candidate will take ownership of day-to-day operations across multiple live projects, working closely with commercial, pre-construction, site and senior management teams. You will be responsible for resource planning, client relationships, supply chain performance, health and safety, programme control and supporting the continued growth and improvement of the business.

What you'll need to succeed

Proven experience in a senior operational leadership role within a main contractor, regional contractor or construction business.

A strong track record of overseeing multiple construction projects, ideally with typical values between £1m and £5m.

Excellent knowledge of operational delivery, project programming, resource planning, health and safety, quality control and commercial performance.

Experience managing and developing project teams, including Contracts Managers, Project Managers, Site Managers and wider delivery staff.

Strong client-facing skills with the ability to build lasting relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and supply chain partners.

A commercially aware, hands-on leader who can drive standards, solve problems and support profitable project delivery.

Relevant construction qualifications and professional accreditations would be advantageous.
