As
both
individuals
are
deaf,
they
rely
on
specialist
communication
methods,
and
we
are
looking
for
compassionate
professionals
who
can
help
them
communicate
effectively,
build
their
independence,
and
enjoy
a
fulfilling
daily
life.
Both individuals require support workers who can confidently use Total Communication techniques, incorporating both signing and verbal communication, to promote engagement, choice, independence, and wellbeing.

About the Role
As a Support Worker, you will provide person-centred support on a 1:1 basis, helping both individuals maintain their independence, develop life skills, and access meaningful activities within their community.
You will build strong professional relationships while ensuring communication needs are met through the consistent use of BSL and Total Communication approaches.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Providing person-centred support tailored to individual needs
- Using British Sign Language (BSL) and Total Communication methods
- Supporting with personal care and daily living activities
- Promoting independence, choice, and dignity
- Supporting community access, appointments, social activities, and hobbies
- Assisting with meal preparation and household tasks
- Providing companionship and emotional support
- Following care plans, risk assessments, and support guidelines
- Accurately documenting care and reporting concerns appropriately
- Working collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals, and the wider care team
What We're Looking For
We are seeking caring, reliable, and enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about delivering high-quality support and helping people achieve positive outcomes.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 6 months' professional UK care or support experience
- Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and/or complex needs
- British Sign Language (BSL) skills or qualification
- Ability to use Total Communication methods
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
- A compassionate, person-centred approach
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable Requirements
- Experience supporting deaf individuals
- Previous supported living experience
- Experience working with individuals with Global Developmental Delay
- Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support principles
