Summary

The post holder provides expert, evidence-based continence care across Bexley, linking acute, primary, community, social and voluntary services. Responsibilities include assessing and case-managing complex bladder and bowel needs, developing personalised care plans, performing catheterisation and bladder scanning, maintaining accurate RIO records, and supporting vulnerable patients and carers. The role provides specialist advice, education and mentorship, contributes to multidisciplinary discharge planning, service development, audit, commissioning and budget management, and supervises junior nurses and administrative staff. It requires effective communication, autonomous decision-making, lone working, regular travel, safe patient handling, and managing clinical, emotional and behavioural risks professionally within relevant guidance and standards.
