Summary
Luma Education Recruitment are seeking a Maths Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming school in Warwick, supporting pupils with their Maths learning through 1:1 and small-group intervention.
This is an ongoing opportunity for someone who is confident supporting Maths, patient and able to build positive relationships with pupils. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to help pupils develop their confidence, understanding and engagement with Maths.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small-group Maths support to pupils
Support pupils with their understanding of Maths and numeracy
Help pupils access classroom learning and complete Maths activities
Deliver or support targeted Maths interventions
Break down concepts and explain tasks in an accessible way
Build pupils' confidence and encourage positive engagement with learning
Work closely with teachers to identify and support individual learning needs
Provide encouragement and positive reinforcement
Support pupils who may require additional learning or SEND support
Requirements
Previous experience working in a school, education, tutoring, youth work or childcare setting
Good knowledge and understanding of Maths and numeracy
Experience supporting Maths on a 1:1 or small-group basis is desirable
Experience working with pupils with SEN / SEND is advantageous
Patient, encouraging and approachable manner
Confident communicating with children and young people
Ability to adapt explanations to suit different learning needs
A genuine interest in supporting pupils' academic progress
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
