Summary

Luma Education Recruitment are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Harlow, Essex, providing individual support to a pupil and helping them make positive progress both academically, socially and emotionally.

This is an ongoing 1:1 Teaching Assistant opportunity offering stability, excellent school facilities, free on-site parking and the potential for the right candidate to secure a longer-term or permanent position.

The school provides a positive, supportive and inclusive environment and is looking for a patient, proactive and nurturing Teaching Assistant who can build a strong relationship with the pupil and work closely with the class teacher and wider support team.

Key Responsibilities

Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a primary-aged pupil throughout the school day

Support the pupil with their learning, engagement and development

Assist with classroom activities and help the pupil access the curriculum

Build a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil

Encourage confidence, independence and participation in school life

Support social and emotional development where required

Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team

Help create a calm, positive and inclusive learning environment

Adapt support and activities according to the pupil's individual needs

Encourage positive communication, engagement and progress

Requirements

Previous experience working in a primary school, education, childcare, youth work or support setting

Experience providing 1:1 support is desirable

Experience supporting children with SEN / SEND is advantageous

A patient, nurturing and encouraging approach

Good communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to build positive relationships with children

Flexible and adaptable when supporting individual needs

A genuine interest in children's learning and development

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
