Summary

Centralised Outpatients provide clinics across East Lancashire from Royal Blackburn , Burnley General, Pendle and Clitheroe, Accrington and Rossendale

We have 2 posts available 1 WTE ( 37.5 hours ) 

                                                           0 .64 WTE ( 24 Hours ) 

Hours to be worked flexibly across the working week 

This post is primarily based at BGH however the successful candidate may be required to work flexibly across our Outpatient departments to provide cover as required.

 

Burnley General Outpatients team work across 3 areas to provide excellent outpatient services to our community

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and caring person to join our friendly team 

The Outpatients departments operate 8-6 Monday to Friday  occasionally we may may require  evening and weekend working

 

Working as a HCA in clinic to support patients throughout their appointments.

• Assist the Registered Nurse in the, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care.

• At the direction of the Registered Nurse participate fully in the delivery of planned nursing care and treatment.

• Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients.

BGH outpatients comprises Area 7 , Fairhurst OPD and Breast clinic.

Team members work across these areas to support patients throughout their appointments and deliver safe personal and effective care

Clinical.

• Maintain confidentiality at all times.

• Provide information to enable the effectiveness of care to be evaluated and records maintained.

• Involve patients and carers/relatives in the delivery of care.

• Provide reassurance support to patients and carers/family.

• Work collaboratively with others in the department to ensure that patients’ needs are met.

• Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.

• Provide escort and transfer for patients, with low dependency, as directed.

• Prepare and set up clinics, including trays and trolleys, treatment and examination rooms.

• Tidy and clean rooms and equipment as directed.

• Chaperone patients when required.

• During procedures, provide assistance to medical and nursing staff when requested.

• Undertake agreed clinical tasks, Including , spirometry, physioloigical measurements and mrsa screening, ecg's, venepuncture, basic dressings under direction from the registered nurse

• Seek assistance from Registered nurse as required.

 

Clerical

• Contribute to the development of services.

• Ensure the effective and efficient use of resources.

• Liaise closely with medical and nursing staff, and associated departments, to ensure that clinics are conducted effectively and efficiently.

• Ensure relevant reports and results are available for the consultation.

• Carry out post-consultation clerical duties when directed, such as making follow-up appointments and arranging patient transport.

• Answer the telephone, take messages and pass onto the appropriate person.

• Order medical and non-medical stock, maintaining a cost-effective approach.

• Ensure all equipment is in good working order, arranging repair when necessary.

• Ensure the tidiness and cleanliness of all clinical rooms, examination rooms, store cupboards and sub-waiting areas.

 

 

Clinical Governance.

• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and clinical guidelines for self and others.

• Report any concern regarding patient care.

• Participate in patient and public involvement activities.

• Support people’s equality, diversity and rights.

• Participate in Individual Performance Review annually.

• Develop own skills and knowledge.

• Attend mandatory training as directed

• Attend team meetings as directed.

 

 

Health & Safety

 

• Comply with safety instructions/policies laid down.

• Use, in a proper and safe manner, the equipment and facilities provided.
