The Maritime and Coastguard Agency implement's the government’s maritime safety policy in the UK and works to prevent the loss of life on the coast and at sea. Within Finance and Analysis, the Data Engineering function develops analytical data products that enable reporting, analysis and decision-making across MCA.

As Senior Analytics Engineer, you will lead the design, development and support of reusable analytical data products, models and curated datasets. Working between business users, analysts, data scientists and data engineers, you will translate business needs into trusted, secure and maintainable data assets that support reporting, analysis and decision-making across MCA.

Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:

Design, build, review, test, deploy and maintain secure analytical data products, curated datasets, transformation pipelines and complex analytical data models.
Identify opportunities to reuse existing data products, datasets, models and transformation components before developing new solutions.
Profile source systems, analyse data structures and translate business processes, rules and user needs into reusable data designs.
Ensure analytical products meet agreed quality standards and are tested, version-controlled, documented and deployed in line with MCA standards.
Build effective relationships with the wider data team, subject matter experts and senior stakeholders, explaining technical issues clearly.
