Summary

The Head of Technology and Service Management is thesenior operational lead for all live digital and technology services at YAS, holding end‑to‑end accountability for theavailability, resilience, safety and performance of technology systems that underpin 999, 111, A&E Ops, PTS and corporate services.  The post holder will act as a deputy to the CDIO for these designated areas at senior internal and external forums and will provide senior leadership continuity where required.

 

The post holder will contribute to the development and delivery of the Trust’s overall Digital, Data and Technology strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate priorities and national direction. The post holder assumes ultimate responsibility for theday‑to‑day operational leadership of technology services, including infrastructure, networks, telephony, command and control systems, and internally and externally developed applications. The role ensures that systems aredesigned, transitioned, operated and maintainedto meet the requirements of a24/7/365 emergency service, with particular focus onservice continuity, cyber security, and patient safety.  This is done using metrics, KPIs and user insight.

The post holder is responsible fortechnology lifecycle strategy, includinghorizon scanning, obsolescence management, and the planning and procurement of replacement and new technologies. The role ensures that technology services evolve in line with emerging clinical, operational and national requirements, while maintaining a strong focus onoperability, supportability and resilience.

The post-holder is responsible for overseeing critical managed services delivered to the Trust ensuring contractual and service level compliance.  This includes critical telephony services and radio services.

The post holder provides senior leadership for behaviours and ways of working that support and develop the team. The role is explicitly accountable for building high performing teams, developing capability, and driving continuous service improvement, recognising that sustainable, reliable technology services are delivered through effective leadership, culture and management as much as through technical solutions.

As an Associate CIO, the post holder is part of the Trust’s senior digital leadership, supporting the CDIO in delivering safe, effective and innovative digital services. The role combines deep functional expertise with broader system leadership responsibilities, contributing to strategic direction, organisational assurance and executive decision-making

The post holder will work in close partnership with the Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO) to ensure that digital products, systems and services are clinically safe, support effective care delivery, and align with operational workflows, contributing to a coherent, clinically led digital strategy.
