Summary

HR Officer (Part-Time, Permanent, 18 Hours Per Week)

Location: Home-based, with very occasional travel across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole and the wider South region. Applicants must live locally and be able to travel easily to offices within the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area.

We're happy to offer flexibility with how the 18 hours per week are worked. Ideally, the hours will be worked across three days; however, we are open to discussing alternative arrangements, including spreading the hours across more days, to suit the successful candidate and business needs. The only firm requirement is that part of the contracted hours are worked during core operational hours on a Friday to ensure HR support is available for managers and colleagues across the region.

This role may particularly suit experienced HR professionals seeking a flexible, part-time opportunity, whether that's alongside consultancy or independent work, caring responsibilities, family commitments, study, or simply a better work-life balance, while continuing to use and develop their HR expertise.

Salary: Full-time salary £39,149.16 per annum.

Pro rata salary: £18,791.60 per annum for 18 hours per week.

We're looking for a part-time, permanent HR Officer to support our operations across the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area and the wider South region. This is a flexible role that can fit around family life, caring responsibilities, study commitments, retirement, consultancy work, or other part-time employment, and one where your professional HR expertise will help transform lives.

A secondment opportunity can only be arranged with the consent of the employee and their line manager. Employees must obtain the agreement of their substantive line manager before applying for a secondment post.

About the Role

You will be the initial point of contact for operational HR matters and provide expert advice and support across the full HR lifecycle.

Your main duties will include:

- Providing first-level advice and guidance on HR policies, procedures, employment law, and employee relations

- Supporting Locality Managers with disciplinary, grievance, absence, and performance issues

- Monitoring sickness absence and coordinating Occupational Health referrals and return-to-work plans

- Producing timely, accurate HR data and reports to support organisational planning and decision-making

- Supporting projects and HR initiatives aligned to Dimensions' mission and strategy

About You

We're looking for someone with:

- Proven operational HR experience, ideally supporting managers across multiple sites

- Significant experience managing and advising on employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, performance management and capability issues

- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR policy, and the ability to apply this in a practical, solution-focused way

- Excellent interpersonal, coaching and influencing skills

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)

- A commitment to person-centred, inclusive, values-driven work

A CIPD qualification (Level 5 or above) or active progression towards a CIPD qualification is highly desirable and will be viewed favourably during shortlisting, although it is not essential. Due to the nature of the role and limited weekly hours, applicants who hold a CIPD qualification or are actively working towards one are particularly encouraged to apply.
