Reception SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Redditch, B98
Weekly Pay: £500-£525
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm (Term Time Only)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Long-Term, Temp-to-Perm
Long Term Futures are seeking a caring and resilient Reception SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming one-form entry primary school in Redditch. This is a full-time 1:1 role supporting a Reception pupil with Autism (ASD) and challenging behaviour throughout the school day.
You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide consistent, individualised support, helping the pupil access learning, regulate emotions and develop their communication, independence and engagement within the classroom.
Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the full school day
- Support a Reception pupil with ASD and challenging behaviour
- Adapt EYFS activities around the pupil's individual needs
- Support emotional regulation and respond calmly to challenging behaviour
- Recognise triggers and use appropriate de-escalation strategies
- Use structured routines, visual strategies and sensory approaches
- Support communication, social interaction and engagement
- Encourage independence and positive participation in classroom activities
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider EYFS team
What the School is Looking For
- Previous experience supporting children with ASD and challenging behaviour
- Experience within EYFS, SEN or a primary school setting
- Confidence providing consistent 1:1 SEN support
- Good understanding of emotional regulation and de-escalation
- Knowledge of the EYFS curriculum and learning through play
- Experience with Makaton, PECS, Now & Next boards or visual timetables would be beneficial
- A patient, resilient and consistent approach
