Summary
1. Tobe responsible forthe day to day running and management of staff within the Physiotherapy Service.
1. Working within the Physiotherapy outpatient team, taking the responsibility for referrals and treatment of members of the public into the Physiotherapy department.
1. To haveoverall responsibilityfor the training and development of staff.
1. To take a leading role in the advanced assessment, clinicaldiagnosisand treatment of patients with complex and/or chronic presentation.
1. To provide an effective high-quality service and take a lead role in supervision and teaching of physiotherapists/technicians/assistants.
1. To provideskilled team leadershipandbe responsible forservice development within Physiotherapy role, using any evidence-based practice and national guidelines.
1. To implement policy and policy changes in own clinical area and to set andmonitorstandards of practice.
1. To undertake evidence-based projects, including recommendations for change in practice and to lead inappropriate departmentalresearch in this clinical area.

1. Work in partnership with Service Managers to promote safe working practices and well-being of patients referredin accordance withthe Health & Safety Regulations and Trust Policies.
1. Contribute to the strategic development of the service and speciality. This includes input into the service annual business plan and the formulation of relevant business cases and integration with the whole Musculoskeletal service aims.
1. To ensure designated staff implement policy and service developmental changes.
1. To ensure that the service responds to national initiatives and policy within the framework of Clinical Governance including clinical effectiveness, evidence-based health care, managing clinical risk, and Research & Development issues.
1. To work a rostered 7-day service when implemented.
1. To advise on the management of frequent and long-term sickness absence and suitable rehabilitation programme were agreed or report back to Occupational Health team asappropriate.
1. To be an active member of the formal departmental training programme by attending in-service sessions,deliveringand attending training sessions both in house and externally and undertaking reflective practice.
1. Tobe responsible forthe Line Management of staff, including recruitment, career development,performanceand work evaluation.

1. To carry out assessment of patients as an autonomous practitioner, including those with complex presentations and to use clinical reasoning skills, knowledge of evidence-based practice and clinicalexpertiseto determineappropriate careplans utilising specialist treatment skills and options.

1. Tobe responsible forthe safe use of equipment used in carrying out Physiotherapy duties, adhering to the departments medical devices policy. Thisincludes competence and accuracy to use equipment by your-self and other healthcare professionals, carers, and patients. i.e., TENS machines and walking aids.
1. To be accountable for own professional actions.
1. Topossesshighly developed physical skills, dexterity, co-ordination and sensory skills for assessment and manual treatment of patients.
1. To work within codes of practise and professional guidelines.
