Smithfield General Theatre and Cath Lab are seeking a highly skilled, motivated and experienced

Band 6 Anaesthetic Practitionerto join our specialist multidisciplinary team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work acrossgeneral theatres and the cardiac catheterlaboratory, providing high-quality anaesthetic support to patients undergoing a diverse range ofsurgical and highly specialised cardiac procedures.

You will work closely with Consultant Anaesthetists, Surgeons, Cardiologists, Electrophysiologists,

Nurses, Operating Department Practitioners, Physiologists and the wider multidisciplinary teamto deliver safe, effective and compassionate care.

The Band 6 Anaesthetic Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing specialist anaesthetic support in general theatres and the Cath Lab.

The role includes:

•Preparing and checking anaesthetic equipment, drugs and airway equipment prior toprocedures.

•Providing skilled support to the anaesthetist throughout the perioperative period.

•Assisting with airway management, induction and maintenance of anaesthesia.

•Monitoring patients and recognising and responding appropriately to changes in theirclinical condition.

•Supporting patients undergoing procedures under general anaesthesia, sedation andregional anaesthesia as appropriate.

•Providing anaesthetic support forgeneral surgery andcomplex cardiac procedures withinthe Cath Lab

Responding effectively to clinical emergencies within the theatre and Cath Lab environments.

•Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient and patient-centred care.

•Supporting the development of junior staff and contributing to a positive learning environment. This includes taking part in the appraisal process.

•Contributing to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and service development.

Specialist Cardiac and EP Experience

Within the Cath Lab, you may support a range of intervention and complex electrophysiology and cardiac procedures.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to maintain and develop your specialist anaesthetic skills while working within a highly advanced cardiac service.
