Are you passionate about supporting children with additional behavioural needs? Long Term Futures are seeking a dedicated Behavioural Teaching Assistant to join a Specialist Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) provision. This setting offers a tailored, personalised curriculum designed to re-engage pupils with learning and help them build confidence, resilience and positive learning habits. We are also looking for day to day cover which can work well anyone looking for Part Time days.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs, helping them engage positively with learning.
- Build consistent, trusting relationships with pupils who may have experienced barriers to education.
- Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour using appropriate de-escalation and behaviour strategies.
- Create a calm, structured, and nurturing environment where pupils feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral staff, and external professionals to provide consistent support.
- Encourage pupils to develop resilience, confidence, independence, and positive social and emotional skills.
Person Specification:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or additional needs.
- Calm, patient, and resilient, with the ability to respond positively to challenging situations.
- Energetic and physically able to support active pupils throughout the school day.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish trust and consistency.
- Confident working as part of a wider team to support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.
- A genuine commitment to helping young people overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes.
