Help deliver some of the South's most important water infrastructure projects

Following significant contract awards and continued growth across our water portfolio, including major programmes with Portsmouth Water and the Andover Link Main project, we're looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to join our Civil Engineering team.

This is an opportunity to take a leading commercial role on major water infrastructure projects that will provide lasting benefits to local communities. You'll work alongside experienced operational leaders, influence key business decisions, build strong client relationships, and help shape the commercial success of a growing portfolio of work.

The Role...

As Commercial Manager, you'll provide commercial leadership across a portfolio of water infrastructure projects, ensuring strong financial performance, effective risk management, and robust commercial governance throughout the project lifecycle.

Working closely with operational teams, clients and supply chain partners, you'll play a key role in driving profitability, supporting successful project delivery, and maintaining the high standards our clients expect.

You'll also lead and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Administrators, helping to build capability and create a culture of commercial excellence.

Here are some of the activities you will be involved in…

Leading the commercial delivery of major water infrastructure projects and frameworks.

Managing, mentoring and developing a team of Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Administrators.

Providing commercial leadership across contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual rights and obligations.

Driving commercial performance through effective cost management, forecasting and financial control.

Leading cost value reconciliation processes and ensuring effective cash flow management.

Identifying, managing and mitigating commercial risks and opportunities.

Overseeing contract negotiations and securing commercially favourable outcomes.

Managing compensation events, claims and complex contractual matters.

Ensuring subcontractor agreements are commercially robust and aligned with business objectives.

Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and supply chain partners.

We'd love to hear from you if you can demonstrate…

Significant commercial management experience within the UK water sector.

A proven track record of delivering major water infrastructure projects for a principal contractor environment.

Strong working knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts, particularly Options A and C.

Extensive experience managing project profitability, cost control, forecasting and commercial reporting.

Experience leading and developing high-performing commercial teams.

Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify and manage risk while maximising opportunities.

Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management and communication skills.

The ability to influence operational teams, clients and senior stakeholders to achieve successful commercial outcomes.
