Summary

The successful applicant will join a team of 30 registrars (deanery trainees, bone marrow transplant/CAR-T coordinators and senior clinical fellows), who are supervised by >30 haematology consultants covering the entire range of malignant, non-malignant and experimental haematology. The post holder will participate in the wider haematology on call rota, including laboratory and liaison haematology.

Applicants should have completed SHO-level training (minimum 4 years postgraduate clinical experience) in internal medicine, and/or be in an established haematology registrar role. The posts are suitable for IMT trainees who wish to gain haematology experience in order to secure a National Training Number, or for existing senior haematology trainees who wish to gain further tertiary centre experience prior to commencing a consultant post.

We also support applicants from UK trainees who are looking to undertake an OOPE, or OOPT to broaden clinical experience, and suitability qualified doctors looking to pursue GMC specialist registration via the Professional Porfolio pathway.

Senior clinical fellow posts cover inpatients, day care, outpatients, triage unit, laboratory medicine, consultative haematology on a rotational basis, with numerous opportunities to develop sub-speciality interests, eg. Bone marrow transplantation, CAR T-cell therapy, haemoglobinopathies (including gene therapy), clotting, immune haematology, clinical trials, laboratory haematology and all aspects of malignant haematology. There may be an opportunity for existing senior haematology trainees to tailor their job description towards their subspecialty of interest.

The duration of the post is 6 months. The fellow will take part in the on-call rota with prospective cover. The post holder must be flexible and prepared to cover the clinical needs of the service on a day-to-day basis.

There is a strong emphasis on teamworking, MDT working, performance feedback, reflective practice, and well-being. The department is research active, in both clinical and academic haematology, with many opportunities to get involved, and work towards making national or international contributions in the field.
