Governance Officer

Contract: 6 months

Hours: Full Time

Pay Rate: National: £14.03 per hour | London: £15.33 per hour

Location: Hybrid, 1-2 days in the office

The Role

We are recruiting for a Governance Officer to support the effective delivery of governance and compliance activities within a well-established organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with governance, compliance, administration, or public sector experience who has strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

You will play a key role in supporting governance bodies, coordinating meetings, maintaining compliance processes, and responding to stakeholder enquiries. This position requires someone who can work collaboratively across teams, communicate effectively, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to requests from internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate and provide administrative support to governance committees and boards
  • Organise meetings and support governance cycles
  • Prepare, collate, and distribute governance documentation
  • Take accurate minutes and maintain clear records
  • Provide logistical support to non-executive members fulfilling governance responsibilities
  • Monitor and maintain compliance processes and documentation
  • Analyse complex information and present it in a clear and concise format
  • Build positive working relationships across the organisation
  • Support continuous improvement and information management initiatives

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience working within a governance, compliance, administration, or public sector environment
  • A strong understanding of governance principles and best practice
  • Excellent customer service and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to analyse and interpret complex documentation
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience working collaboratively within a team environment
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
  • Knowledge of Welsh Language Standards would be advantageous for roles supporting colleagues or customers in Wales
