At Heritage Children’s Homes, we do more than provide care. We build trusted relationships, create stability and help young people believe in their future.
We are looking for compassionate, resilient people to join our Ofsted-rated Good children’s home in Swindon. You will become part of a small, relationship-focused team, providing safe, consistent and trauma-informed care to young people who need adults they can rely on. The Swindon home supports up to two young people and is built around emotional safety, predictable boundaries and curiosity rather than judgement.
You do not need previous experience in a residential children’s home. If you have experience supporting children or young people in education, youth work, healthcare, community services, supported accommodation, care or a voluntary setting, we would like to hear from you. We will provide the residential childcare training and support you need to develop in the role.
What you will do
As a Residential Support Worker, you will:
- Provide nurturing, trauma-informed day-to-day care
- Build safe, positive and professional relationships with young people
- Support routines, education, appointments, activities and healthy lifestyles
- Encourage practical life skills and age-appropriate independence
- Promote safeguarding, emotional safety and positive outcomes
- Help young people regulate their emotions during difficult moments
- Respond to challenging behaviour using calm and appropriate de-escalation
- Maintain clear, consistent and professional boundaries
- Complete daily logs, reports, handovers and safeguarding records accurately
- Work alongside social workers, schools, families, health professionals and other agencies
- Contribute to a supportive, reflective and values-led team
- Work 24 and 48-hour shifts, including sleep-ins, weekends and bank holidays
