My client is a part of a group that offers a range of services, including ecological consultancy. They were established over 40 years ago and have provided services to their clients nationally ever since. They work on a range of large-scale infrastructure projects as well as conservation and others.

Your new role

We are currently seeking a Water Vole Licenced Ecologist to support a major highways infrastructure project, carrying out water vole surveys and providing ecological oversight to ensure compliance with environmental legislation, licencing requirements, and best practice guidance.

In this role, you will undertake water vole habitat assessments and surveys, identify evidence of water vole presence including burrows, latrines, feeding stations, and field signs, and provide specialist ecological advice to site teams. You will assess potential impacts on watercourses and riparian habitats, develop and communicate appropriate mitigation measures, and support licence compliance where required. Working closely with contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders, you will help ensure works are delivered in line with ecological constraints while maintaining project programmes. Accurate data collection, reporting, and clear communication of survey findings and mitigation requirements will form a key part of your responsibilities.

What you'll need to succeed

CSCS Card

Water Vole Displacment / Mitigation Licence

Experience working as an ecologist on major infrastructure projects

Your own PPE

Specialist equipment is desirable, not essential

Relevant Degree/Qualification

Driving licence and your own vehicle
