As a
Cookat Sodexo in Ferryfield House in Edinburgh, you’ll play an important role in preparing fresh, nutritious meals that support patient wellbeing and enhance the overall dining experience. This is a hands-on cooking role, preparing mainly basic meals from fresh ingredients while following standardised recipes to ensure consistency and quality. You’ll also help manage the day-to-day running of the kitchen and supervise Sodexo staff when management is unavailable, particularly at weekend shift. What you’ll do:
- Prepare and cook fresh, nutritious meals according to recipes, specifications and standardised recipes
- Ensure meals are prepared consistently and to the required quality and presentation standards
- Ensure orders are placed and support effective stock control
- Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen environment
- Comply with all Company and hospital policies and procedures, as well as statutory requirements relating to health and safety, safe working practices, hygiene, cleanliness, fire safety and COSHH
- Problem-solve effectively and respond appropriately to day-to-day kitchen requirements
- Supervise Sodexo staff when management is unavailable, particularly at weekends
- Lead by example, supporting a positive, professional and respectful working environment
What you bring:
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent experience
- Good culinary skills and a genuine passion for cooking
- Experience preparing meals from fresh ingredients and following recipes and standardised recipes
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage day-to-day kitchen responsibilities
- Ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with co-workers and other departments
- A positive, reliable and team-focused approach
- Confidence to supervise and support colleagues when management is unavailable
