Summary

Nurse / SEN Carer needed for young boy with Profound Autism and Learning Disabilities near Thirsk

Part time hours (can be flexible), during school holidays and weekends

£18 - £20/ hr depending on experience

About the role

We are looking for an experienced nurse carer for school holidays and weekends for our son who has profound autism and learning disabilities. He is a very happy and smiley young man who loves being outside and interacting with adults. He also loves music and books and a variety of sensory input.

He is non-verbal and has very limited understanding of danger and risk. So we need a kind, understanding and caring person with extensive experience in a similar role of supporting a child or young person 1:1 with profound autism and / or learning disabilities and incontinence.

You will have an enhanced DBS check, your own transport and be happy caring for our son in our home most of the time.

Duties

● Keeping him safe at home & taking him for local walks to see horses, fields and streams (we live in a rural village)

● Helping him to make choices of snacks, drinks and activities at home

● Assist him in safely enjoying his garden swings and play equipment

● Monitor his safety in the home and engage in one on one communication activities

● Responsible for all his daily care needs during working hours, such as dressing, personal care, eating and drinking and administering medications

Requirements

● Own transport is essential due to the family's home location

● Enhanced DBS check needed

● You will be used to working with children with a similar profile. Ideally within a special needs school or structured care setting, or as a special needs nurse.

● Due to his neurodiversity he has no sense of danger and can be impulsive, you will need to be able to anticipate risk and react quickly

Please Note: Nycil is not the employer, we act on behalf of individual employers, and will forward all suitable applicants onto them.
