Summary
Provide comprehensive technical support to all members of the department in the provision of a dispensary service. Ensure the timely and efficient delivery of requests for pharmaceutical products across the Trust by the dispensing and issuing of prescriptions, signed orders and controlled drugs orders establishing and maintain a communication link between pharmacy and the wards served. Providing a ward-based Pharmacy Technician service to designated wards. This will include medicines reconciliation of newly admitted patients, assessment of patients own drugs, overseeing the ordering of medication and c-ordinating the supply of discharge medication. To counsel patients on the routine use of their medicines, providing specific information to any special requirements ensuring patients understand their discharge medication. To act as an Accredited Checking Technician under a nationally recognised accuracy checking technician framework. To perform a final accuracy check on dispensed items against prescriptions and requisitions. To show continuous competency in checking accurately and safely. Supervising student pharmacy technicians, pharmacy support workers, dispensers and trainees in the department and across all wards. Liaising with pharmacists and a multi-disciplinary team to ensure a proficient and comprehensive medicines management service to all patients and staff across the integrated care system supporting across primary and secondary care.
