Summary

To meet the requirements of a clinical specialist sonographer and in line with the advanced clinical practitioner framework, the successful candidate will be required to: o Complete a Masters in Science (MSc), which will be funded by the department. o Develop standard operating procedure (SOP) for clinical specialist role in conjunction with Consultant Sonographer. o Act as Trainee Mentor for all ultrasound trainees. o Coordinate and help facilitate the peer-review programme. o Prepare, with the help of the Consultant Sonographer & US Management Team, the application for BMUS Preceptorship Endorsement Scheme. o Complete reflective piece on the benefit of practice educator within across the ultrasound service. o Coordinate and help facilitate the Quality Assurance (QA) programme. o Undertake one clinical audit. o Attend and participate within education meetings with the Consultant Sonographer and clinical assessors. o Demonstrate ability to work to specific deadlines. o Act as appraiser for the (PgD) trainee sonongraphers o Review and update of role-specific clinical protocols in conjunction with the Consultant Sonographer. Further milestones and key tasks will need to be achieved for the role as part of the development role to ensure the full specification of the role is met prior to moving into the 8a pay scale. The successful candidate will need to be able to commit to a minimum of 30 hours in the role. Clinical lists and training lists will remain an essential component of the clinical workload of this post.
