House Manager

Location: Haywards Heath

Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday; 9am - 3pm; 30 hours a week

Job Type: Fixed Term Contract for 12 months

Salary: £16.65 per hour (rising to £17.23 per hour after a successful probation of 5 months)

Our client is an established provider of Sheltered Housing and Facilities Management Services. Our client is looking for a caring organised and proactive House Manager to support tenants at their sheltered care scheme in Haywards Heath. As House Manager, you will be the main point of contact for tenants, helping them to live safely and independently in a supportive community. You will provide day-to-day housing management and practical support, help tenants access services when needed, and ensure the building and communal areas are safe, secure and well maintained.

Key responsibilities include:

- Supporting tenants to live independently, maintain their tenancies and access health, social care and community support where needed.

- Providing sensitive and effective communication with tenants, relatives, colleagues, contractors and partner agencies.

- Coordinating tenant meetings, activities and social opportunities that encourage participation and choice.

- Monitoring rent accounts, tenancy matters, repairs, building safety and day-to-day housing management issues in line with procedures.

- Carrying out welfare calls, risk assessments, support planning and appropriate record keeping.

- Supervising the part-time Cleaner, including allocating duties, monitoring standards, providing feedback and supporting development.

- Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed, including fire safety checks, building inspections and appropriate responses to emergencies.

Person Specification:

- Experience of working in supported housing or a similar environment.

- A caring, tenant-focused approach and the ability to deal sensitively with queries and concerns.

- Good organisational, communication and record-keeping skills.

- Confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel, email and housing management systems or similar systems.

- Understanding of safeguarding vulnerable adults, risk assessments and equality in service delivery.

- Staff supervision experience, or a willingness to develop supervisory skills.

- A Health and Safety or First Aid qualification, or willingness to undertake relevant training as per the Competence and Conduct Standard.
