Summary

SEND Teaching Assistant

Full-Time or Part-Time Long-Term or Permanent Opportunity Immediate Start Available

This is a specialist provision supporting pupils aged 2–19 years with a range of additional learning needs. The setting provides a nurturing, inclusive, and structured learning environment where pupils are encouraged to develop academically, socially, and emotionally.

Duties as SEND Teaching Assistant:

Support pupils with SEND on a one-to-one and small-group basis
Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning activities
Help pupils access the curriculum and achieve individual learning goals
Support communication, social interaction, and emotional wellbeing
Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning
Work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and parents where required
Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:

Previous experience supporting pupils with ASD, MLD, or PMLD
Experience working within a special school or SEND environment is desirable
Team Teach training is highly advantageous
Patient, resilient, and caring approach
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
Strong understanding of safeguarding practices
Commitment to supporting children and young people with additional needs
