Summary

We are seeking an experienced Band 7 Midwife for an exciting dual-role position within Maternity Birth Centre. The post holder will provide senior clinical leadership on a shift pattern, coordinate care and patient flow, and oversee the safe and effective management of Birth Centre and safe staffing. You will support women and birthing people, ensuring timely assessment, escalation and appropriate multidisciplinary management. The role requires an effective team leader and team player who can support colleagues, coordinate complex workloads, promote high standards of care and contribute to service improvement, clinical governance and a positive team culture.

To be able to have a helicopter view of the acuity within maternity unit including the community and ongoing home births to enable redeployment as per clinical need.

To provide excellent leadership guidance and clinical expertise and support for all teams within maternity, and across the MDT working collaboratively across all maternity areas.

Promote high standards of specialist care for patients in all areas of maternity, ensuring a quality experience is received.

Provide and promote a high standard of clinical excellence whilst coordinating the clinical activities on shift.

Establish effective working relationships with the Maternity team, inpatient and outpatient. Promote positive interpersonal relationships.

We’re proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre, Radiotherapy Centre and Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. We’re also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.

We run a Women’s Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.
