Summary

We have clearly set out in our job description and person specification the essential criteria for the roles (please see below). You will be expected to meet all of the essential criteria in order to move to the shortlisting stage of the recruitment process. We are looking for applicants who meet the following criteria: For a Junior post We expect you to have at least three years post MBBS (or equivalent) in addition to experience in an Emergency Department (ED). For doctors who have worked in the NHS, at least 1 years experience in ED in the NHS at CT1/2 level For doctors who have not worked in the NHS yet, you will need at least one year in an ED setting (an example of what we mean by ED setting is working your entire job purely in the ED not GP or 'outpatient' or 'ward rounds' only) To be considered for Tier 3 (CT3) level role, you will need MRCEM exam plus minimum of 2 years in pure ED setting in the NHS at CT1/2 level Advanced Life Support (ALS) qualification For a Senior post At least six years post MBBS (or equivalent) in addition to experience in an ED ALS and ATLS qualifications MRCEM exam (full) You will have worked in an NHS medical role, with at least two years experience in the ED in an NHS acute Trust at CT3 or higher level IAC sign off Whilst clinical attachment is not essential, please do note in your application if you have had an attachment in ED of more than two weeks. These are service posts so do not have educational approval, but you will be provided with excellent training and educational opportunities, tailored to meet your individual needs. We expect that you will keep yourself up to date with current knowledge and practice, attend clinical meetings within the department and to participate in audit and in service training of other professionals. Clinical Fellows in the Emergency Department can expect to: Build on previous experience and develop increased expertise in the identification, assessment and management of sick patients Gain experience and familiarity in identifying and managing a wide variety of medical conditions, with appropriated decision making around need for admission and discharge +/- primary care/specialty follow up Gain experience and familiarity in managing poly-trauma patients and the concept of silver trauma Have opportunities to acquire additional skills such as fascia iliaca block, chest drain etc To enhance your communication skills with patients relatives and colleagues To keep up to date with mandatory training required for your role To participate in the annual appraisal process We have successfully supported many doctors who have come to work with us to gain places on training programmes, just let us know if this is your aim and well do everything we can to help you get there.
