Primary Teaching Assistant - Near North West Cambridge & Surrounding Areas

Are you a patient, encouraging, and energetic individual looking to support young learners in primary education? Whether you are seeking the total freedom and work-life balance of day-to-day cover, or looking for the rewarding continuity of a long-term classroom placement, we have fantastic opportunities tailored to your availability.

We are currently partnering with a welcoming network of primary schools and academies

near North West Cambridge. We are experiencing high demand for enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support pupils across Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2.

Whether you are an experienced Primary Teaching Assistant, a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), a nursery practitioner, a university graduate seeking classroom experience before starting teacher training, or someone with a background in youth support, we can help you find your ideal role.

Choose Your Ideal Way of Working:

  • Day-to-Day Cover: Enjoy complete control over your working week with total flexibility. Choose the exact days you want to work to perfectly balance your personal commitments, family life, or studies while gaining experience across local primary settings.

  • Long-Term Opportunities: For those seeking routine and the chance to build strong, supportive relationships with children and staff, we offer long-term placements spanning a term or a full academic year. These roles allow you to become an integral part of a class team and closely support student progress over time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dynamic support to class teachers in delivering lessons across the primary curriculum, including literacy, phonics, and numeracy.

  • Work with pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small guided groups to reinforce learning and boost confidence.

  • Support pupils with diverse needs, including Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), providing gentle encouragement and sensory or emotional regulation support where required.

  • Assist in creating an engaging, organised, and safe learning environment, helping prepare resources and display work.

  • Encourage positive behaviour, social skills, and peer interaction in the classroom and during playground supervision.

  • Provide constructive feedback to the class teacher regarding student engagement, progress, and well-being.

What We Look For:

  • Previous experience working with or supporting children (in primary schools, nurseries, youth groups, tutoring, or sports coaching).

  • A warm, resilient, and proactive approach with a genuine passion for early years and primary development.

  • Strong literacy, numeracy, and communication skills to support learning across Key Stages 1 and 2.

  • An adaptable nature and the confidence to integrate smoothly into different primary classroom environments.

  • A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).

Benefits of Working With Us:

  • Competitive daily rates of pay, processed weekly and reflective of your experience level.

  • A dedicated local consultant with deep knowledge of the primary education sector

    near North West Cambridge.

  • Complete flexibility to set and update your availability on your own terms.

  • Invaluable classroom experience for those aspiring towards a career in teaching or educational support.

  • Direct pathways to securing long-term contracts or direct school employment.
