Summary

The post holder will providea range of duties to support our expanding team. This includes service evaluation, audit, and there may be an opportunity to contribute on small scale research projects. The postholder will gain clinical experience supervised closely by CAMHS clinical professionals for children and adolescents experiencing mild moderate emotional and mental health difficulties. This includes evidence-based 1:1 and group interventions in schools, employing CYP-IAPT principles (Children and Young Peoples Improving Access to Psychological Therapies). The post holder may also be involved in co-production and participation for children and young people and parents.

The Assistant Psychologist will join the existing Enfield MHST multi-disciplinary team (that includes a Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Lead, CAMHS clinicians / supervisors from a range of disciplines including clinical psychologists, child and adolescent psychotherapist, CAMHS nurse specialists, Educational Psychologists, and qualified children’s wellbeing practitioners and education and mental health practitioners) to support the work within schools. There will be three MHSTs covering several education sites across the borough, operating as one large team. The project started in October 2019 with a small number of placement schools, and currently meets over 1/3 of schools. The aim is to gradually increase the offer of support to more schools in the borough. The service currently comprises:

In order to meet the needs of the Trust you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey or Islington. The Trust reserves the right to require staff to work at such other places or locations as it considers reasonable and necessary on a temporary or permanent basis.

1. Clinical work under supervision, administer surveys, psychometric and psychological screening and assessments with children, young people, parents for whole school approaches in educational or community settings for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

2. Under supervision, to contribute to clinical interventions with children, young people, and families through individual, group or workshops in schools.

3. Developing skills in supporting children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, their parents/carers, families and educators in the self-management of presenting difficulties.

4. Developing and practicing evidence-based skills under supervisory support of working in partnership with children, young people, their families and educators in the development of plans for the specific intervention and agreeing outcomes.

5. Show evidence in a variety of forms that at all times assessment and intervention is provided from an inclusive values base, which recognizes and respects diversity.

6. Attend multi-disciplinary and multi-agency meetings relating to referrals or children and young people in treatment, where appropriate, both for personal educational benefit in discussion with supervisors, or to provide direct assistance.

7. Keep coherent records of all training and clinical activity in line with both health and education service protocols and use these records and outcome data to inform decision making.

8. Contribute to the development of individual or group clinical materials or training materials and go on to develop further such materials as falls within own degree of competence.

9. Complete all requirements of data collection

Team Activity

1. Contributing to team and service functioning to assist in the design and implementation of audit, service development projects / tasks and evaluation as required.

2. To assist in meetings in which service developments are planned and discussed.

3. To contribute to the team and service’s delivery of accessible and acceptable services to diverse local communities.

4. Complete all requirements of data collection.
