Summary

A Vacancy at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced neuro Speech and Language Therapist to join the Wolfson Outpatient Cognitive Rehabilitation Service (WOCRS), based at Queen Mary's Hospital, Roehampton. WOCRS is a Neuropsychology-led service providing day and outpatient care for patients with cognitive impairments resulting from an acute neurological event.

The successful applicant will work with the Professional and Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist, the Lead Therapist for Neurosciences and the WOCRS team to implement and support service delivery of highly specialist, evidence based care.

The post holder will manage and advise on complex cases, deliver high quality interdisciplinary intervention (including groups) and be responsible for ensuring clinical governance and ongoing service innovations within the clinical area.

They will have experience in supervising, developing and managing others and will have advanced communication skills and be a strong team player.

The post holder will work closely with the MDT, Principal SLTs in Neurorehabilitation at St George's Hospital and Queen Mary's Hospital, Wandsworth Community Neurorehabilitation Team and the wider SLT team.

• To independently manage highly complex clients within the WOCRS caseload, making differential diagnosis & clinical management decisions on the basis of evidence from assessment, frequently weighing up complex clinical management decisions in the context of conflicting clinical indicators.

• To develop and maintain expert clinical competence.

• To develop and implement expert level Speech and Language Therapy treatment programmes within the service, including working towards interdisciplinary goals and group therapy, providing thorough services and evaluation through clinical outcomes.

• To be responsible for the clinical supervision, appraisal and line management of the WOCRS Speech and Language Therapy team.

• To assume lead responsibility for delivering clinical governance and service development including setting priorities for the services, in consultation with the WOCRS leadership team, SLT professional lead and Therapies Management Team.

• To will lead team meetings, conduct audit and research projects and audit service provision.

• To plan, deliver and evaluate specialist training to other professionals and patients/clients and carers on all aspects of swallowing, speech, language and communication.

• To provide clinical education and training to Speech and Language Therapy students, developing links with Higher Education Institutions, teach MDT colleagues and other appropriate healthcare staff
