Summary
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, motivated and child-focused Registered Manager to lead and manage our Ofsted-registered children’s residential home supporting young people aged 10 to 17 years with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
The successful candidate will provide strong, consistent leadership and ensure that young people receive safe, nurturing and high-quality care that promotes positive outcomes, stability, independence and personal development.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, the Quality Standards, safeguarding requirements and Ofsted expectations.
Key Responsibilities
The Registered Manager will:
Provide effective leadership and management of the children’s home.
Ensure the home operates in accordance with its Statement of Purpose and conditions of registration.
Maintain full compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and associated Quality Standards.
Promote a safeguarding culture where young people are protected from harm, exploitation, abuse and neglect.
Ensure individual care plans, placement plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans are current and effectively implemented.
Provide oversight of safeguarding incidents, missing-from-home episodes, allegations, complaints and significant events.
Complete and oversee appropriate notifications, including Regulation 40 notifications where required.
Ensure appropriate management oversight, review and learning following incidents.
Lead, supervise, support and develop the staff team.
Ensure staff receive appropriate supervision, appraisal, training and competency assessments.
Maintain safe staffing levels and effective workforce planning.
Promote trauma-informed, relationship-based and child-centred practice.
Build positive relationships with young people and ensure their wishes, feelings and views influence their care.
Work effectively with social workers, families, schools, health professionals, police and other agencies.
Chair or contribute to internal and multi-agency meetings.
Monitor the quality of care provided and develop improvement plans where required.
Maintain effective auditing, monitoring and quality-assurance systems.
Ensure actions arising from Regulation 44 visits, Ofsted inspections and internal audits are completed.
Complete or contribute to Regulation 45 quality-of-care reviews.
Manage budgets and resources appropriately.
Ensure medication, health and safety, fire safety, recruitment and record-keeping procedures are effectively maintained.
Lead the home through Ofsted inspections and maintain a strong focus on continuous improvement.
