As a Core Tutor in our Justice and Immigration team, you’ll deliver engaging Maths or English programmes that help learners develop essential skills, achieve recognised qualifications, and build brighter futures. Your work will support rehabilitation, personal growth, and positive outcomes for individuals in custody.

What you’ll do as a Core Tutor
- Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive teaching and learning programmes that meet individual learner needs.
- Develop schemes of work, lesson plans and Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), monitoring learner progress and achievement.
- Assess learner work, provide constructive feedback and support successful accreditation and certification outcomes.
- Act as a personal tutor, providing guidance, mentoring and pastoral support to help learners overcome barriers to education.
- Maintain accurate learner records, registers and documentation while ensuring compliance with awarding body and statutory requirements.
- Work collaboratively with education colleagues, prison teams and other professionals to create a safe, supportive and effective learning environment.
- Contribute to curriculum development, continuous improvement activities and ongoing professional development.
Does this sound like you?
- Hold a Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
- Hold a Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (AVRA) or Assessor qualification.
- Have experience delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment.
- Be passionate about supporting learner development and creating positive outcomes for individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, organisation and relationship-building skills.
- Be committed to continuous professional development and maintaining high standards of teaching practice.
