Summary

A Vacancy at South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust.

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) service provides out-patient and consultation services to children experiencing a range of mental health and developmental difficulties.

The service also includes a Single Point of Access team which manages all referrals for children and adolescents in Richmond and Kingston boroughs where there are concerns about emotional heath/mental health difficulties. The Richmond and Kingston T3 services and the SPA work in close collaboration

SWLSTG CAMHS Tier 3 teams are multidisciplinary team specialising in the provision of high-quality assessments and evidence-based treatments for children, young people and their families presenting to the service with moderate to severe mental health problems and with high-risk profiles.

· We are looking for an experienced and qualified CAMHS Advanced Nurse Practitioner/Non-Medical Prescriber to:

· Provide support to our T3 Consultant Psychiatrists in Kingston and Richmond CAMHS T3 services, by taking responsibility, under their direction, for medication initiation and review. Providing, as part of treatment titration, ongoing assessment, treatment, and management of patients

· To provide clinical supervision to trainee NMP posts within Kingston and Richmond

· To provide borough leadership for ADHD prescribing clinic developments across Kingston and Richmond CAMHS

· Represent SWLSTG Trust Kingston and Richmond CAMHS at external and internal ADHD medication related development meetings

· Provide direct clinical judgement and treatment decisions using highly developed skills and knowledge regarding clinical management of Children with ADHD.

· Exercise Independent or Supplementary prescribing rights using accepted guidelines and within client's clinical policies and the RPS Prescribing Framework.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure that the patient's interests are fully considered within the context of their care, actively participating in ethical, shared decision making within the multi-disciplinary team approach.

· Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for decision making within the parameters and expectations of the Titration Team leads.

· Undertake risk assessments and review safeguarding needs alongside treatment strategies during ongoing patient care.

· Utilize up to date knowledge of relevant legislation, national and client's policies and other issues relating to ADHD and patient management.

· Access regular clinical supervision from an allocated Service Consultant Psychiatrist and within the Titration Team

· Monitor treatment effectiveness and potential side effects and where appropriate initiate prescribing changes within NICE Guidance (NG87), policies and agreed treatment standards.

· Make independent prescribing decisions in collaboration with the patient and keep the Consultant Psychiatrist informed during the titration process, as required, by keeping contemporaneous records in the electronic clinical record.

· Use internationally recognised and validated screening and monitoring tools, alongside Services monitoring processes to implement excellent standards of patient care and achieve stabilisation of symptoms and treatment optimisation.

· Place an emphasis on informed choice within a patient partnership approach, ensuring full information is provided to the patient regarding the medications to be prescribed, following RPS Prescribing Framework standard
