Start: As Soon As PossibleContract: CasualThe roleAt Wimbledon High School, we have a strong belief in civil discourse and learning how to debate well enables our students to navigate thoughtfully and intelligently through some of the most complex issues of society. We are looking to develop our debating club at WHS, and so this is an opportunity to make a difference to individual students and to play a part in fulfilling the school’s wider ethos.The successful candidate will:- Plan and deliver interactive debating workshops tailored to the age and ability of the students (i.e. Year 7-13).- Teach core debating skills, such as argumentation, critical thinking, research and public speaking.- Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation.- If required, prepare students for internal and external debating competitions.- Provide constructive feedback to students on their performance and progress in debating.- Maintain high professional standards of punctuality, appearance, conduct and positive, courteous relationships with staff, students and, if relevant, parents.- Support and contribute to the school’s responsibility for safeguarding children.About youWe are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive debate coach who can inspire debaters from Year 7 to Year 13. The candidate must have a strong background in debating and experience working with young people. Excellent communication and self-management skills are essential, along with the ability to effectively liaise with the debating coordinator at WHS. Most of all, we are looking for someone who shows passion for debating and who will instil this in our students.About Wimbledon High School
