Hours 32.5 hours per week

Monday-Thursday 9:00am-4:00pm

Friday 8:30am-3:30pm

Join our teamThe Lady Byron School is looking for a caring, enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistant to join our specialist team supporting autistic children and young people. You will work alongside teachers and our wider specialist team to help pupils access learning, develop independence, build confidence and achieve their individual goals.We are looking for someone who understands that every young person is different. You will need to be patient, adaptable and able to remain calm and consistent when pupils are experiencing anxiety or dysregulation. Previous specialist-school experience is welcomed, but just as important is the right attitude, a willingness to learn and a genuine commitment to supporting autistic young people.What will you be doing?• Support individual pupils and small groups with their learning.

• Help pupils access lessons and engage positively with their curriculum.

• Adapt your approach to individual communication, sensory and learning needs.

• Support pupils to develop confidence, communication, emotional regulation and independence.

• Follow individual support plans and risk assessments.

• Support pupils during transitions and less structured parts of the school day.

• Support practical life skills and preparation for adulthood.

• Participate in educational visits and community-based learning.

• Work closely with teachers, practitioners, SEND staff, therapists and the wider school team.

• Maintain high standards of safeguarding and professional conduct. Who are we looking for?• Passionate about supporting children and young people.

• A strong team player who is willing to learn and develop.

• Able to remain calm and supportive when a pupil is anxious or dysregulated.
