Summary
We are looking to recruit an experienced Product Manager to join a forward-thinking, market-leading UK supplier and distributor based in Coventry. This is a full-time, permanent, office-based position, offering a salary of £45,000-£50,000pa depending on experience, plus benefits.
The Product Manager is responsible for ensuring all products introduced, maintained and developed are technically correct, fully documented, accurately represented within business systems and capable of meeting customer and business requirements.
The role acts as the business gatekeeper for product information, product specifications and product introduction processes, ensuring products are delivered right first time from suppliers and supported by accurate and complete product data throughout their lifecycle.
Working closely with customers, suppliers, quality, operations, sales teams, and colleagues, the Product Manager will ensure product standards are maintained, risks are minimised and products are supported by robust data, documentation and governance processes.
The role will play a key role in ERP implementation, OpenECX development and wider business system improvements by ensuring product master data is accurate, structured and fit for future business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Product Governance & Product Introduction
• Own and manage the New Product Introduction (NPI) process
• Act as the approval gatekeeper for all new products entering the business
• Ensure all products meet agreed technical, operational, quality and compliance requirements before launch
• Coordinate product readiness activities across departments
• Ensure all required documentation, specifications and approvals are completed before products are released
• Maintain and continuously improve product governance processes
• Ensure product changes are properly controlled and documented
Supplier Product Management
• Work directly with suppliers to establish and maintain product specifications
• Ensure suppliers clearly understand our products, quality and compliance requirements.
• Drive a "right first time" approach to product development and product introduction.
• Challenge suppliers where product specifications, quality standards or documentation do not meet expectations.
• Monitor supplier performance relating to product quality and specification compliance.
• Support investigations and corrective actions relating to product issues.
• Plastic Packaging Tax Return (HMRC – Quarterly).
• Extended Producer Responsibility (Environmental Agency bi-annually)
Product Data Ownership
• Act as owner of product master data across all business systems.
• Maintain accurate product specifications, dimensions, weights, certifications, technical information and product attributes.
• Ensure consistency of product information across ERP, OpenECX, websites, catalogues and customer platforms.
• Develop and enforce product data governance standards.
• Lead product data cleansing and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure all product information remains accurate, complete and up to date.
