This is a direct recruitment for one of our directors and their family. We are not a recruitment agency, and the successful candidate will be employed directly rather than placed through an agency.
We are looking for an experienced and caring Registered Nurse to work within a private family household in Blackburn, providing dedicated nursing care and support to elderly family members.
This is an unusual opportunity for a nurse looking to move away from a hospital, nursing home or conventional clinical environment. The role is based within a fabulous, substantial private residence in Blackburn and offers the opportunity to provide genuinely individual, one-to-one care in a comfortable and well-supported setting, without the pressures associated with caring for a large number of patients at the same time.
The successful candidate will work 12-hour shifts from 3:00am to 3:00pm as part of an established two-shift care arrangement, with the corresponding shift running from 3:00pm to 3:00am. The contract is for an average of 39 hours per week, with the rota arranged across the care team and discussed fully with suitable candidates.
The role will include responsibility for the day-to-day nursing and clinical needs of the individuals being cared for, including medication administration and management, monitoring general health and wellbeing, mobility and personal care where required, recording and responding to changes in condition, liaison with GPs, consultants, pharmacies and other healthcare professionals, arranging and attending appointments where necessary, maintaining appropriate care records and providing reassurance, companionship and general support.
We are looking for somebody who is clinically confident but who also understands that private household nursing is very different from working on a ward or in a busy care home. The successful candidate will need to be patient, discreet, dependable and comfortable developing a close professional relationship with the individuals and family. Privacy and confidentiality are extremely important.
Applicants must have current NMC registration and appropriate nursing experience. Experience in elderly care, community nursing, private nursing, complex care or a similar setting would be particularly useful. Candidates should be confident with medication management and routine clinical observations and able to recognise and respond appropriately to changes in a patient's condition.
A full UK driving licence would be advantageous.
We are looking for somebody who wants a long-term position and who will become a trusted part of the household's care team. Applications from experienced nurses looking for a more personal and less institutional nursing environment are particularly welcome.
To apply, please submit your CV together with a brief summary of your nursing experience and current availability.
