Summary

Beacon Support Ltd. are recruiting for a reliable Practical Support Assistant and Manual Notetaker to work with disabled people. This role involves the provision of support and practical assistance to people with disabilities.

Main responsibilities

The precise nature of the assistance and support will depend on the specific impairment barriers faced by the person. You will be given specific instruction on what is required.

You will be expected to have the skills and competence to work effectively, at the direction of the student.

As a Notetaker, you will attend various lectures and seminars to support students with disabilities or mental health conditions who require notes to be taken on their behalf. Notes should contain pertinent information from the session, including diagrams and references. These are given to students within an agreed time frame, and in a format and style that meets a student’s requirements

Responsibilities:

* To be punctual and reliable

* To provide support that addresses the individual needs of the person

* To act in their best interests at all times

* To manage paper work effectively, including accurate time sheets, and promptly submitting them at the end of each month

* Producing accurate and legible electronic notes for lectures, seminars and tutorials

* Reviewing notes at the end of the lecture, and ensuring they are in a suitable and accessible format for the student

* Maintaining a professional role as a notetaker at all times, including maintaining confidentiality

* Ensuring that any concerns are addressed in a timely manner

If the support activity includes supporting wheelchair users, you will be provided with specific health and safety training relevant to the physical demands of the activity.
