Summary

About Us

Oxfordshire County Music Service is looking for friendly, reliable and confident people to join our team as Receptionist and Duty Officer at the Centre for Music in Headington. This is an important front-of-house role, helping to ensure that children, young people, families, tutors and visitors receive a warm welcome and that our evening and Saturday music activities run safely and smoothly.

We are recruiting to two term-time only posts: one for approximately 10 hours per week and one for approximately 15 hours per week. The posts will include regular weekday evening work and Saturday cover during term time, with the working pattern agreed as part of the recruitment process.

About the Role

As Receptionist and Duty Officer, you will be the first point of contact for Centre users during evenings and Saturday sessions. You will meet and greet pupils, parents, staff and visitors; respond to routine enquiries; support sign-in and sign-out arrangements; and liaise with tutors, managers and the office team where follow-up is needed.

You will also take responsibility for the safe operation of the building during your duty hours. This will include acting as Duty Officer, supporting safeguarding and health and safety procedures, responding calmly to incidents or emergencies, checking rooms and shared areas, and helping to secure the building at the end of sessions.

About you

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people and can provide a calm, professional and welcoming presence in a busy education and community setting. You will be confident working independently, able to take responsibility when needed, and comfortable supporting children, young people, families and visitors.

You will need good communication skills, basic IT skills, attention to detail and a reliable approach to evening and weekend working. Experience in a reception, customer-facing, education, arts or community venue role would be helpful, although training will be provided where needed. You should also be willing to undertake First Aid and Fire Marshal training.
